FAQ

Our Coffee

Is your coffee sold whole bean or ground?

All our coffees are sold as whole beans. This gives you the freedom to grind them according to your preferred brewing method — espresso, pour-over, French press, Aeropress, or drip. Premium specialty coffee is always best enjoyed freshly ground, as grinding just before brewing preserves the full complexity of aromas and flavours that make each cup exceptional.

How do you guarantee the quality of your coffee?

Quality is a practice at 87plus. We start at the source — selecting only the best beans and partnering with farms built for the long game, producers who share our obsession with excellence. We work with reliable, efficient logistics partners to ensure every bean arrives at our Montréal roastery in perfect condition.

Then the craft begins. We roast in small, carefully controlled batches, running multiple roasting tests and cupping sessions until every roast curve is exactly right.

We listen too. Our customers are part of this journey — their feedback shapes how we refine and improve every coffee we bring to your cup.

About 87plus

What is the 87¢ Coffee Development Fund?

With every bag you purchase, 87¢ is set aside in a dedicated fund. When the fund reaches a meaningful amount, we work directly with our Colombian coffee farming partners to understand their most pressing needs — and they decide how the money is used.

This is not charity. It is a direct investment in the people who grow your coffee, decided by them. Today, one of the most urgent priorities identified by our farmers is generational succession — ensuring that the next generation of young Colombians wants to continue the tradition of growing world-class coffee.

Do you offer a coffee subscription?

A subscription service is coming soon — allowing you to receive your favourite 87plus coffees automatically, at a frequency that suits you, with exclusive subscriber pricing. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when it launches.
